EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED COUPLE THERAPY

EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED COUPLE THERAPY(EFT)

This modality of treatment is a short-term, systematic, and tested intervention to reduce stress and adult love relationships and create more secure attachment bonds.

Conflict of opinion will always be present, and is natural when in a relationship. The fact is even the healthiest relationships experience some degree of conflict in their lives and dealing with all the odds is what helps grow a relationship and put it on the path of righteousness. Emotionally focused therapy, an intervention based on scientific study of adult love and bonding processes in couples, is designed to address distress in the intimate relationships of adults.

At the Counseling Center for Sexual Health (CCSH) in Ventura County, California, we aim to help facilitate the creation of secure, lasting bonds between intimate partners and family members and reinforce any preexisting positive bonds, with the goal of helping those in treatment increase security, closeness, and connection in intimate relationships.

We Can Help You Achieve Your Relationship Goals!

Distress in a relationship is usually due to stress, anxiety, depression, work pressure, alcoholism, or lack of intimacy in a relationship, which is the most common reason for seeking emotionally focused therapy. At Counseling Center for Sexual Health (CCSH), couple counseling services using the EFT model follows the move towards integration of interventions across models by combining systemic and experiential perspectives and attachment theory as the theory of love. It also integrates recent research on marital distress. The growth of the EFP model reflects the increasing pressure for clinicians to find support for their conceptualizations of key variables and to document the impact of these variables on relationship problems and the repair processes. In fact, all of the elements of EFT (EFT perspective on relational distress, the way of treating this distress, the process of change, and the explanatory attachment framework) have been research supported.

We Help You Develop A Stronger Bond!

Empathy, trust, communication, and affection are essential for a healthy relationship. Whether the conflicts with your partner are damaging your beautiful bond with your other significant other or you are feeling helpless, immobilized, and panicked as your relationship deteriorates, Counseling Center for Sexual Health (CCSH) is where you can reconnect with your partner. Our sexual health, family, and marriage therapists will come to your rescue, regardless of the nature or complexity of your relationship issues and disputes.

A couple might begin therapy by learning ways to de-escalate conflict about a commonly debated topic, such as finances, for example. Then, the couple starts to learn ways to express deeper feelings often covered up by common relationship conflicts, such as a lack of trust.
